The 31-year-old Dozier has batted just .224 this season with a .708 OPS. But he has 16 home runs and has been a second-half hitter throughout his career – including a career OPS of .886 in August and a major-league high 40 home runs in 112 games from August to October over the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
"(Dozier) plays plus-defense, is a grinder-type player – that's a big acquisition," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "He's going to play against left-handed pitching. He's going to play against right-handed pitching quite a bit as well. But to say he's going to play every day, that's a little extreme. As far as starts, we have a lot of good players that I think we have to keep involved. ..."
